Enjoy a day or night out in Little Chicago at these entertaining locations:
Tipton-Haynes Historic Site
The Tipton-Haynes house is a historic home built in 1784 by John Tipton. The property includes his house and ten other small buildings, such as a smokehouse, loom house, and barn, among others. The farm is the site of the “Battle of Franklin”, which occurred because Tipton opposed the state of Franklin’s creation. The governor of the proposed state of Franklin and a small group of militiamen attacked Tipton’s home, but were eventually thwarted by the Sullivan County militia. Today, visitors can see Tipton’s farm as it is a state owned historic site, operated by the Tipton-Haynes association.
