Bristol is a charming southern city featuring art galleries, performing arts, and an impressive calendar of events spanning the entire year.  Whether you want to spend some time outdoors, go to a race at the speedway, visit a museum, or enjoy a concert, Bristol has many attractions to keep any visitor entertained.

The city of Bristol is located in the midst of the beautiful Appalachian mountains on the Tennessee and Virginia borders.  The region boasts a beautiful 640,000 acre national park as well as nearby lakes for fishing and hiking trails.  The city of Bristol is home to several parks, which are perfect for a picnic or a long walk.  One of the city’s parks, Steele Creek Park, is home to a nature center, a golf course, shelters, and paddle boats for rent.  Another incredible site to see is Bristol’s Caverns, which are between 200 and 400 million years old and located a short distance away from the Virginia and Tennessee borders.

Known as the birthplace of country music, Bristol hosts a prolific and diverse variety of musical acts year-round.  Virtually any day of the week live music can be found at venues across the city.  Bristol is also the host of annual music festivals, such as the Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion.  For performances all year round, Pick Bristol is a continuous calendar of live musical events in the city.

Fans of racing can enjoy spending a day at the Bristol Motor Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races each year.  In between races, the Speedway organizes events at the track, like guided track tours which take visitors into the heart of Thunder Valley.  The Speedway also has a drag strip and frequently hosts races which amateur racers can compete in.

There are plenty of fun activities and attractions for those of all ages in Bristol.  During the summer, the Twin Cities Drive-In plays contemporary movies the old fashioned way, providing a great way to spend an evening.  Appalachian Ghost Walks take visitors on a tour through the city that may be creepy, but is educational on Bristol’s fascinating pre-Civil War history.  For concerts and large events, the Viking Hall Civic Center is a great place to look for entertainment.  Quite often, one does not have to venture away from the downtown Bristol streets for a great live performance and memorable experience in this beautiful southeastern city.
